Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters. This policy explains what personal data DoBrainGames collects, why, how it is used, and what rights you have. No dark patterns, no marketing emails, no selling of data.

1. Who is responsible for your data?

As an EU-registered company, Confianta EOOD processes your data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. What data do we collect?

When you create an account (via Google Sign-In):

• Your email address — provided by Google as part of the authentication process
• Your display name — as provided by your Google account, which you can change in your profile

When you use the platform:

• Game data — moves played, game results, ratings and rating history
• Chat messages — internal messages sent between users on DBG
• Coach/student profile information — if you choose to list yourself on the marketplace

Automatically (server logs):

• IP address, browser type, timestamps of requests — standard server logs kept for security and debugging only

We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party tracking or advertising scripts. No cookies are set beyond what is strictly necessary for your session and local preferences (such as your chosen background image).

3. Why do we process your data? (Legal basis)

• Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR): account data, game history and ratings are processed to provide the service you signed up for.
• Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): server logs are kept to detect abuse, fix bugs and maintain security.
• Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR): email notifications for internal messages. You can withdraw this consent at any time in your profile settings.

4. Email communications

The only emails DBG will ever send you are transactional notifications — a short message to let you know when another user has sent you an internal DBG message. No newsletters, no promotions, no marketing of any kind.

You can opt out at any time via your profile settings. Opting out does not affect your ability to use the platform.

5. Third-party services

Google Sign-In (Google LLC)
We use Google OAuth for authentication. When you sign in, Google shares your name and email address with us. Google's own privacy policy applies to what Google does with your data during that process. See: policies.google.com/privacy

Lichess.org and Online-Go.com (bridges)
When you play via the Lichess or OGS bridge, your game activity takes place on those platforms under their own terms and privacy policies. DBG does not share personal data with these platforms. See: lichess.org/privacy and online-go.com/privacy.

Buy Me a Coffee
Voluntary support payments go through Buy Me a Coffee. Their own terms and privacy policy apply.

6. How long do we keep your data?

• Account data, game history, ratings, messages: retained until you delete your account.
• Server logs: retained for up to 90 days, then deleted.

7. Your rights under GDPR

You have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Erasure — ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
• Restriction — ask us to limit processing in certain circumstances
• Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
• Object — object to processing based on legitimate interest
• Withdraw consent — at any time, for processing based on consent (e.g. email notifications)

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Bulgaria: the Commission for Personal Data Protection (CPDP) at cpdp.bg. In the Netherlands: the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens at autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.

8. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. Passwords are never stored — authentication is handled entirely via Google. Game data and messages are stored in a secured database accessible only to the platform operator.

9. Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
